IS THIS TRULY MUTINY?????????
Abiodun Idris | December 22, 2014
Greatest Nigeria students and masses of our dear country. I want to start this write up by saluting the spirited consciousness that has develop overtime in this same country of ours till today towards the activities of the government(Federal, State and Local ) and the forthcoming 2015 election.

Though everyone has known the government of the day as the one that cook up anti-masses policies and does not put the issue that affects the average Nigerian at the front burner of their actions and policies. They (government) have extended their high-handedness, impunity, corruption amidst all to the military terrain, where some days back some soldiers (54 to be precise) are sentenced to death because of two count charges; criminal conspiracy to commit mutiny and mutiny. To be candid with our self is that truly mutiny? What are the conditions that surround their actions? Did the soldiers refused to fight or refuse to join the operation because of lack of superior and sophisticated ammunition?

All this still boils down to the kind of system of government that controls our resources both human and material which is “capitalism”. This system as brought us more harm than good. Where our entire sectors are not functioning and the government is privatizing every public institution in the country just to satisfy the ruling elites. The allocations to provide amenities to the masses are been siphoned every single day. This is the reason in which the soldiers refuse to join the operation to reclaim the territories in which the Boko Haram sect have claimed some time ago because of lack of superior and sophisticated ammunition.

Report from the military court who gave the death sentence verdict at the Mogadishu barracks in Abuja, Nigeria on Wednesday has it that some soldiers were at the entrance not to allow press men free entry under order from their boss. These soldiers deserve fair hearing that will be open to all and sundry to defend their actions but for the skeleton in their cupboard they will never allow the press to give report of what really transpired because they want to protect the ruling elites that embezzled the allocations for their ammunition. We vehemently condemn the act of military court in Mogadishu barracks, Abuja. One Mr. Opurum said he call for reinforcement because they were out-numbered by the Boko Haram sect and they also possess superior and sophisticated ammunition than theirs.

To tackle this issue:

There must be a transparent court hearing for the alleged soldiers to defend themselves because in our constitution there is a section that stipulate fair hearing.

We call for government to order the minister of defense to give account of the allocation responsible for providing ammunition.

We also demand that the Grand Commander of the armed forces of Federal Republic of Nigeria in person of President Goodluck Jonathan clears himself from this unjust and inhumane involvement by making justice to prevail because we are not in a military regime.

They should ask for the record of weapons recovered from the soldiers when they refuse to join the operation.
We place an express call on all entire Nigerians; students, parents, guardians, Human rights’ organizations, civil society, Trade Union, NLC etc. to stand against the bestiality and barbarity as this is an affront on democracy.

The only solution we need in this country is to make our leaders accountable to us the masses; by this we should be pushing for a more democratic system of government to avoid the government of the day impunity and high-handedness.

Injustice in a place is a threat to justice everywhere in the World.
